My recent trip to Hawaii inspired me to create traditional Tiki Masks using letterpress dingbats. The ornamental designs vary throughout each individual Tiki. The bilingual treatment of type is reflected in the name.
The faces of the tiki all have different meanings. When the eyes are looking up, the tiki offers protection and when the eyes look down, it means good luck. A smiling mouth will show happiness and if it is open, will bring peace. If the tongue is sticking out, it is the sign of a warrior.
